Yesterday was November 3, 2010 – exactly one year until the dedication ceremony for our new C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital.
To celebrate this milestone, Pat Warner, Executive Director of C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital, and several of our activation team members made visits to each of the units in Mott and Von Voigtlander to deliver commemorative children’s building blocks inspired by our new logo to each patient and staff member.
In addition to hand-delivering the blocks to each unit, the team is installing countdown clocks by each elevator to help keep the importance of our task ever present for all of our staff and families. In just 364 days, we’ll be moving into the finest children’s hospital we could ask for. It’s tremendously exciting, but we have a lot of work to do to ensure that the process is smooth for our patients, families and their caregivers.
Russell Maurer, from the video above, is a great example of someone who knows where we’ve been and is excited about where we’re going. Russell’s experiences at Mott began more than twenty years ago when he was just two weeks old. He has amazing things to say about his care here and the quality of our physicians and nurses, but he’s so excited for the new private rooms and new amenities like flat-panel TV’s. Russell knows what a difference this all will make for our Mott family. His nurses, too are excited about what this will mean, and are eager to roll up their sleeves and finish the work we’ve started in preparation for the big move.
364 days and counting!
